Giving Back to Our Community – Erica

09 Feb 2017 by Krystal Barter

Pink Hope’s Glimmer of Hope program aims to support the women and families within our at-risk community at a time when they are going through surgery, treatment or caring for a family member.

This Glimmer of Hope was made possible with the support of Eat Fit Food. To learn more about Eat Fit Food see their website, www.eatfitfood.com.au.

Erica’s Story

Erica

Erica found out she carried the BRCA1 gene in 2011 while pregnant with her first child. After having her second baby in 2014 she began thinking seriously about risk reducing surgery. With such a strong family history of breast cancer in the early 40’s Erica eventually decided to take action and have a double mastectomy early in 2017.

Erica’s Glimmer of Hope
With the support of Eat Fit Food Pink Hope is able to provide Erica with a Glimmer of Hope consisting of Eat Fit Food fresh healthy meals to help her while she recovers from her surgery. Erica has two young children so knowing she has healthy meals being delivered will ensure she can rest more and recover faster.

A Message from Erica
“Thank you so much to Eat Fit Food and Pink Hope for providing me with meals in the weeks after my surgery. My husband and parents will be busy looking after my two young children, so this will be very helpful as they wont have to worry about cooking for me! I really appreciate the amazing support and generosity shown through this ‘Glimmer of Hope’ program.”
