Giving Back to Our Community – Pascale
Pink Hope’s Glimmer of Hope program aims to support the women and families within our at-risk community at a time when they are going through surgery, treatment or caring for a family member.
This Glimmer of Hope was made possible with the support of Eat Fit Food. To learn more about Eat Fit Food see their website, www.eatfitfood.com.au.
Pascale has a family history of breast cancer on her French maternal side, losing her mother, grandmother, great aunts and mother’s cousins to the disease. She has undergone genetic testing and is BRCA negative but has decided to undergo nipple sparing risk reducing bilateral mastectomy with expander to implant reconstruction at the end of August 2016 to reduce her risk. Her decision is based on the strong likelihood of an unknown genetic mutation being present in the family, the emotional experience of watching her mother fight and lose to breast cancer over three short years, and a promise to look after the future of her two young daughters aged five and two. The recovery from this type of surgery is typically six to eight weeks.
Pascale’s Glimmer of Hope
With the support of Eat Fit Food Pink Hope is able to support Pascale with a Glimmer of Hope consisting of Eat Fit Food fresh healthy meals to help her while she recovers from her risk reducing mastectomy. As a Mum of two with little family in Australia having Eat Fit Food deliver healthy meals during her recovery will reduce her workload and ensure she is eating nutritious foods.
A Message from Pascale
“Thank you so much to Eat Fit Food and to Pink Hope for supporting me so brilliantly throughout my recovery. It is an amazing kindness! Life is very busy and demanding with two small children who need lots of care and attention. These healthy meals will be a fantastic way to reduce the workload and get the essential extra rest needed.”
