Christine’s Member of the Month
Pink Hope is so proud to recognise Christine as member of the month. Christine has attended events and fundraisers, supported other high risk women and shared her story in the media.

Christine’s Story
2014 was a really tumultuous year for Christine and her family. A strong family history led her father to genetic testing early that year. He duly found out he was BRCA1 positive and after also undergoing genetic testing Christine too found out that she was BRCA1 positive. Christine immediately set about addressing her personal risk for both breast and ovarian cancers by planning preventative surgeries. Following her first surgery; removal of ovaries, Fallopian tubes and uterus, pathology revealed that she had an early stage cancer in her Fallopian tubes. That really was extremely challenging and life became quite a whirlwind. After chemotherapy she proceeded with risk reducing bilateral mastectomies and reconstruction in early 2015. Christine has fortunately remained well since then.

A Message from Christine
“The Pink Hope community has been amazing throughout everything I have gone through. Having a group of caring, supportive and truly understanding people around you makes the whole genetic risk and cancer journey easier. Pink Hope’s goal to raise awareness is also incredibly important. Knowing your risk can save lives, as it saved mine.”
