Member of the Month – Sarah

Pink Hope’s Member of the Month program recognises a member of the Pink Hope community who supports and inspires other increased risk women and represents the mission of Pink Hope.

Sarah’s Member of the Month
Pink Hope is so proud to recognise Sarah as member of the month. Sarah has shared her story, held a fundraiser, written blog posts and provided peer support through the Pink Hope online support groups.

Sarah’s Story
Sarah was just five when her mother was diagnosed in her early 30s with stage-three breast cancer. Her mum’s sister was then diagnosed with breast cancer. Family history research showed that her great grandmother had died from ovarian cancer. It was then discovered that Sarah’s family carried the BRCA2 gene mutation. Sarah undertook screening throughout her 20s and in her early 30s underwent a risk reducing double mastectomy.

A Message from Sarah
“Pink Hope has allowed me to write my own future. For this I am forever grateful. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough for the empowerment, strength and support you have given me in order to make and concur one of the toughest decisions of my life. It’s an absolute bonus to have made some beautiful friendships along the way! It is an honour to be a part of such a positively life-saving sisterhood. I cannot imagine now what my life would be like without Pink Hope. Thank you to all who make this organization the inspiring place it is; know that you shed a beacon of light where shadows lie.”
